The Eagle has Landed Day 1 15th

A happily uneventful trip from aus to Paris.  Very full flights on both legs.  The lights kept coming on after they’d started fake-flying-night-time and the head steward was seen on a number of occassions sprinting up the aisle back to wherever the computer was.  Eventualy they gave up and handed out eye patches.  We trusted that the rest of the plane’s instrumentation was more reliable,

In my long haul jetlag delerium, I recall us seeing a bloke ride a powered suitcase full pelt up the Hong Kong main terminal building.  We noted also, in Paris, that three officers processed the two score and ten French passort carriers and one tired, irritable looking one processed passports of the remaing four hundred or so foreigners.  We got therein the end.

Metro straight from Charles De Gaul to our station (Denver Rockerfort or something) in Montepanesse and before we knew it we were sitting in a little cafe sipping wine and nibbling fromage with that wierd travel-laggy “are we really here” feeling.

Beautiful cool clear evening, still light at nine.  I think what’s excited us both is how wonderful everything looks green!  We’ve only ever seen Paris in its spring clothes, steely greys and browns.  Now there’s blossoms and flowers everywhere, deep purple tulips and other err white and yellow ones.

Tomorrow will be awesome but for now we just want to sleep.
