Stage 14 – Burgos 22km / 284km

I need to get back to out dorm before midnight or someone might throw a thong at me. Here’s a precis of the day and some photos:

Heavy mist from dawn through to about 10am, lovely to walk in

Morning mist leaving Ages

Stop at a town corner store for a espresso a packet pastry and a bag of peanuts

The rocky road up the hill from Ages

We meet the German, Tom, who’s been walking continuosly for eight years with his dog (who died recently from tick bight). He shares his philosophy on simplicity. Later we catch up with our friends who all spoke with Tom and we realize why its taken him so long. He’s 71 with a 20kg pack including tent and cooking gear. A very warm and wisr gentleman who didn’t mind a chat. I had beard envy…Di has a photo.

Finally out of the mist

A stop in sun at Cardenuela for proper coffee and fresh strawberries.

A lovely walk into Burgos via the town park and river.

It’s labour day and a long weekend and as the evening rolls on the town fills.

some stuff we forwarded hasn’t arrived. We find they could access the city due to labour day marches and they stuck our gear in a locker somewhere in town. We retrieve it through the surging friday night throngs.

Beautiful roses. Got drunk on the scent of these ones

Burgos is delightful.
