Stage 39 – A Rua to Santiago de Compostella 21km / 0km

We made it!

Lovely walk through eucalyptus forest, villages and Santiago.

Took obligatory selfie in front of cathedral

PIcked up wheely bags and other forwarded stuff – all good (nice to wear jeans and a dress again)

Purchased replacement charger (how would we live without phones).

Attended pilgrims mass….in Spanish (singing was good)

Dined in the street across from our hostel and….

Caught up with a gusquillion people we met along the way. Santiago de Compestella seems to be a permanent daily celebration of arriving pilgrims.

Very tired. Here’s some photos:

Wall murals O Pedrouzo
Di pointing the way, O Pedrouzo
Eucalyptus forest just beyond St Anton
Some Spanish friends we met back before Villafranca and kept bumping into. The helped us with local wines!
Morning light through trees, O Amenal
Getting close to Santiago now. Tilled field, San Paio
Wall mural, city outskirts
Graffiti
Coffee stop, Villamaior
Scuplture near Mt gozo, Santiago
Pilgrim sculptures, mt Gozo
Entering the cathedral square accompanied by bagpipes
Santiago Street scens
Pilgrim’s mass at the cathedral
Dinner across the road
