Today can be summarised as, ‘we got up and skiied’, although that would gloss over some significant winging on my part about my ski boots. But we’ve dealt with that now, after some minor paddies, and it’s all faded into the background of another wonderful blue sky day (well let’s see what tomorrow brings).

Across to Tofana today on the West side of the Cortina valley. The lifts rise up to about 2500m with amazing views back across to Faloria and Cristallo, where we skiied yesterday, right around to Cinque Torri (5 towers) in the south. We pretty much coved all the Tofana lifts and most of the runs, doubling up a bit on our favourites.

It’s all piste skiing with the weather being so good, however they make snow over most of the mountain every night and there’s lots of manufactured ‘puffy’ bits around the place which are really nice on the steep.
Tofana is mostly red and black runs with some nice blue ones down through the trees. Most of the runs are quite long and given this side of the valley cops sun from early morning, and how dramatic the back drop is and all, come 11-ish, we were toast.

Nice lunch up at the top of the gondola (watching the fur and Dior set doing photo shoots), a few more runs in the afternoon and we were done for the day.

Dined at Hotel Aquila, the first hotel founded in Cortina (1861) when Cortina was all about rock climbing (at least from a sporting perspective). Nice dinner. Tomorrow Cinque Torri!

Nice lunch spot!
It seems to us that pretty much every cortina lunch spot is an awesome full bistro service mega view establishment! We haven’t found a bad one yet.
Blue skies, white snow! Love the photos
Cheers! We’re really enjoying it.
