  3. Proper bogled: Better get you home or somewhere else private with a bucket

Etymology

Middle English bow-galled meaning seriously plastered on the sire’s Meade while he’s out on a pheasant hunt

First known usage

Nozawa Onsen, February 26th, 2023 upon the occasion of a Tepanyaki degustation with Bogle family wines; Semillion and Cabernet Sauvignion.

Origins of the word ‘bogled’

It snowed all yesterday, on and off through the night and all through today. We had 18cm of fresh powder this morning with drifts much deeper. ‘Schneider’ run which gets heavily moguled at the steep, ‘black-run’ end was as smooth as a (steeply sloping) rice field under snow with the occasional monster mogul pushing up pregnant drifts.

I reckon I got four runs in (the first untracked) before it got skied out. Divine! The rest of the skiing day was equally sensational.

We fare welled our delightful not-Buna favorite lunch place host who always made a point of coming and saying hello, off-hired our skis and stocks and took a last walk down the now heavily drifted snow-track by the walk-o-later. Still snowing.

Later, we wandered, somewhat bogled from the remnants of last nights degustation, up to Aokiya for baked salmon and fungi on caramelized onion (again) and grilled ginger pork with rice. Superb!

Speaking of last night, whilst getting pleasantly bogled at dinner, we met fellow Australians and husband and wife team Drew and Bronte. Drew a movie producer who’s worked with Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman and Bronte in musical theatre. A delightful meal ensued and we parted ways after passing on our regards to Russel and Hugh who, we feel, must be anxious as to our whereabouts.

Tomorrow we’re bound for Hiroshima.

  1. Boggled by your BOGLE. The snow looks fantastic and what a great finish to the skiing part of your trip.

  2. It really was a great finish, the boggling Bogle and the skiing! No on Thunderbird from Kanazawa to Kyoto and thence to Hiroshima this evening.

  3. The food was spectacular, simple and tasty and it’s pleasing to see that many traditional Japanese restaurants prevail. We really lucked it in with the snow, it was sensational!
